Install and configure the Alingo Chrome Extension to get AI-powered contract analysis directly in Google Docs.
Overview
The Chrome Extension brings Alingo's AI contract analysis into your document workflow:

Analyse contracts against your organisation's playbooks

Get policy-aligned suggestions with explanations

Apply changes with or without track changes
-
Chat with AI about your document
System Requirements

Browser: Google Chrome v90 or later
-
Account: Active Alingo account with valid credentials

Permissions: Edit access to Google Docs you want to analyse
Installation
Step 1: Install from Chrome Web Store

Open Google Chrome
-
Go to the Chrome Web Store
-
Search for "Alingo"
-
Click "Add to Chrome"
-
Click "Add Extension" to confirm
-
The Alingo icon appears in your browser toolbar
Step 2: Verify Installation
-
Click the puzzle piece icon in Chrome toolbar (Extensions menu)

Find Alingo in the list
-
Click the pin icon to keep Alingo visible in toolbar (optional)
Step 3: Open a Google Doc
-
Navigate to docs.google.com
-
Open any document you have edit access to
-
Look for the "ALINGO" badge on the right side of the page
-
If you see the badge, installation was successful!
Signing In
First Time Setup
-
Open any Google Doc
-
Click the "ALINGO" badge on the right side
-
The sidebar opens showing the login form
-
Enter your Alingo email and password
-
Click "Sign In"
-
You'll be redirected to the main interface
Staying Signed In
-
Your session persists across browser sessions
-
You'll stay signed in until you explicitly sign out
-
If session expires, you'll be prompted to sign in again
Signing Out

Open the sidebar
-
Go to Settings tab
-
Click "Sign Out"
Quick Start: Your First Analysis
1. Open a Contract
Open a contract or legal document in Google Docs that you want to analyse.
2. Open the Sidebar
Click the "ALINGO" badge on the right side of the page.
3. Go to Suggestions Tab
Click the "Suggestions" tab in the sidebar.
4. Select a Playbook
Choose from the playbook dropdown:

Auto-detect Playbook - AI selects the best match

Or choose a specific playbook (NDA, MSA, etc.)
5. Run Analysis
Click the Play button (▶️) next to the playbook selector.
6. Wait for Results
Analysis typically takes 10-60 seconds depending on document length.
7. Review Suggestions
You'll see a list of suggestions with:

Priority badges (Critical, High, Medium, Low)
-
Diff views showing original vs. proposed text
-
Explanations for why each change is recommended
8. Apply Changes
For each suggestion you agree with:

Click "Apply" to insert the change
-
Changes appear as suggestions (track changes) or direct edits
Understanding the Interface
The Sidebar Tabs

Suggestion Cards
Each suggestion shows:

Priority - Critical (🔴), High (🟠), Medium (🟡), Low (🟢)

Title - The clause or section affected

Diff - What will change (red = removed, green = added)

Explanation - Why this is recommended

Apply/Dismiss - Actions you can take
Permissions Explained
The extension requests these permissions:

Your data is secure:

Document content is processed for analysis, not stored permanently

All communication is encrypted

Only documents you explicitly analyse are processed
Troubleshooting Installation
Extension Not Appearing in Toolbar

Click the puzzle piece icon in Chrome
-
Find Alingo in the list
-
Click the pin icon to show in toolbar
Badge Not Appearing in Google Docs

Refresh the Google Docs page
-
Wait 5-10 seconds for extension to load
-
Ensure you're on a document (not Docs homepage)

Check that extension is enabled in chrome://extensions
"Add to Chrome" Button Not Working

Ensure you're using Google Chrome (not Edge, Firefox, Safari)
-
Check your internet connection
-
Try signing out of Chrome and back in

Clear browser cache and try again
Sign In Failing

Verify credentials work on main Alingo platform (app.alingo.ai)

Clear browser cache and cookies
-
Disable other extensions temporarily

Try in incognito mode
Updating the Extension
The extension updates automatically from Chrome Web Store. To check your version:

Go to chrome://extensions

Find Alingo
-
Version number shown on the card
-
Click "Update" if available
Uninstalling
To remove the extension:

Right-click the Alingo icon in toolbar
-
Click "Remove from Chrome"

Confirm removal
Or:

Go to chrome://extensions

Find Alingo
-
Click "Remove"
