AI Assistant FAQ

General Q: How does the AI access my documents? A: When you enable "Search Documents", the AI searches your indexed documents using semantic search, finds relevant sections, and generates answers based on that content. Q: Can I trust AI-generated content? A: AI is a co-pilot, not a lawyer. Always verify important information by checking cited sources. Use AI to save time, but apply professional judgment. Q: What AI models are used? A: Alingo uses advanced language models (similar to GPT) optimised for legal content. Exact models may vary and improve over time. Q: Does the AI learn from my documents? A: Your documents are indexed for search but NOT used to train the underlying AI models. Your data remains private. Q: Does it search the web? A: Yes, when "Web Search" toggle is enabled. Use for research on current legal developments. Using the Assistant Q: How do I see which documents were used? A: Check the "Sources" section below each answer. It shows document names, relevance scores, and excerpts used. Q: Why isn't the AI finding my documents? A: Enable "Search Documents" toggle, verify documents are indexed, wait 1-2 minutes after indexing, try more specific questions. Q: Can I ask questions about multiple documents? A: Yes! The AI searches across all indexed documents and can compare or synthesise information from multiple sources. Q: What's the difference between the three modes? A: Standard: General AI knowledge. Document Search (RAG): Searches your documents. Web Search: Searches the internet. Use the right mode for your question type. Q: How long are my conversations saved? A: Conversation history typically retained for 90 days. Critical information should be saved elsewhere. Drafting Q: Can the AI draft any type of legal document? A: AI can draft common documents (NDA, MSA, employment, etc.) using templates or custom descriptions. Complex/unusual documents may need more human involvement. Q: Are AI-drafted documents ready to sign? A: No! AI drafts are starting points. Always have legal review before using. Q: How do I make drafted documents better? A: Enable "Include Playbooks" to use your standard clauses, be specific in your requirements, provide context and constraints. Q: Can I customise templates? A: Templates are starting points. Copy to Google Docs or Word and customise fully. Limitations Q: What can't the AI do? A: Provide legal advice, guarantee accuracy, access documents you haven't uploaded, understand extremely complex scenarios, replace human lawyers. Q: What if the AI gives wrong information? A: Always verify using cited sources. If consistently inaccurate, contact support with examples. Q: Is there a query limit? A: Fair use applies. Excessive queries may be rate-limited. Normal use won't hit limits. Privacy & Security Q: Who can see my AI conversations? A: Only you, unless in a shared session. Admins can see aggregated usage stats but not content. Q: Is my data used to improve the AI? A: Usage patterns may inform improvements, but your specific documents and conversations are not used to train public models.
